Welcome to Icecrown, an experimental game server based on World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, which was produced by Blizzard Entertainment. We have no affiliation with Blizzard Entertainment, nor any of its subsidiaries or parent companies.
This is an attempt to relive some favorite memories for nostalgia purposes, to learn from it, and have fun. It is also an attempt to maintain a historical record of one of the most major periods in this game's development cycle. If you plan on playing on this server, we suggest that you pay for a subscription on Battle.net. It's always good to give credit where it's due.
Read before completing your registration!
- 1. You are not joining this server to make real life money, and you will not be asked by server officials for real life money. If this rule is violated, you will be banned permanently.
- 2. You can have a maximum of two accounts per household. Each account needs to have a separate e-mail address associated with it.
- 3. You are not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment, Activision, Microsoft, or any other subsidiaries. Neither are we.
- 4. You are only here to try a historical version of the wildly popular World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.
- 5. If you like this game, we encourage you to pay for a World of Warcraft subscription on Battle.net, even if you choose to continue playing here.
- 6. Don't be a menace. Everyone is here to have fun. Reports of misbehavior will be taken seriously.
1. Navigate to the "Register" tab above, read the rules, and then follow the steps to create an account. This allows you to log in to the website and the game.
2. The game client that we use here is 3.3.5a (12340). There are no current plans for upgrade, but you can choose to use your own client if you have a download website preference or an already installed copy. Your client MUST be the same version that we have listed here.
3. If you need a link to the game, email help@fettflix.net. If you have a copy that came from somewhere else, open your "World of Warcraft" installation directory. The default directory is "C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft". Once located, navigate into it and open the "data" directory, then look for your regional language directory, e.g. "enUS" or "enGB".
4. If you have chosen to use a client from a different source besides the email link above, once you have navigated into the correct folder, you will see Config.wtf. Open the file with Notepad, and you can either change the line shown below to the correct address, or you can delete everything in the file and replace it just with the one line shown below. Then you are ready to play!
